Race for Education 2011

Photobucket

As a fund raiser for the boys school they raise money and race around the fields. The school raised over $15 thousand and the kids ran for an hour. Well sorta an hour they took a lot of breaks.

They raced at the same time in different areas so I got in my own racing running back and forth to watch them. The day was beautiful such perfect weather. It was nice to spend the morning outside.

When I got there the childrens houses were lining up to race.

They are so cute. How can a bunch of kindergartners and younger not be? They were so fun to watch. They ran around their drop off circle with such enthusiasm and the speed of turtles.

Most of them walked. After a bit some were carried by mom or dad. Evan gave it a few good sprints. But for the most part walked and then stopped for long breaks of water. Once he realized he did not have to continue that was it for my 6 year old. He was done and ready for his ice pop.

I was still proud of him for what he did.

And then there is Gregory, completely different from his brother. Gregory was a bolt of lightning right off the start. They all were but Gregory kept it up, kept on going and started laping the other children.

He ran and ran fast.

He was a lot of fun to watch to cheer on. He was doing great. And he loved it every lap he came through he got even more excited and would call out the number of the lap he was on.

He ran with great determination to keep on going and to get as many laps as he could. They did not have to run any certain amount of laps whatever they could do. He stopped for water breaks and sometimes walked with friends and even with doing all that he still ran 27 laps!

If you are wondering how far that is, it is just shy of 5 miles!!! Way to go Gregory! My 6 year old knocked out 5 miles easily with stopping for breaks in under an hour. He did the second most laps for lower elementary.

What a fun morning and how proud I was of both of them. And now I found a running partner how can probably beat me.
