A Day Out With Thomas

On a brief, to brief stay back at home with the family we went to spend a day out with Thomas. My children are train nuts, and that is putting it lightly. We had a great time and the day was perfect weather perfect company. The darling little girl is our niece. She is 18 months old.

A happy homecomming

Today is my first day back with the family since I left last week. Oh how I missed them so. Last Wednesday I drove to my new temporary home in Fredricksburg, VA. I walked in to a hotel room that was unfamiliar, cold (the a/c was way to high, but at least it worked), and not at all the mommy retreat I had made it out to be in my mind. The pool was closed for the season, the what I had pictured lavish bathroom was an old part of the early 80 that was forgotten. Worst of all my family was not there to cuddle up with. I was so sad and questioning what did I do. The next morning I went to my new job to the familiar face of my boss. I was happy to see him. He walked me into the restaurant and a few of us had a lenghty meeting but I was still happy because as the meeting went on I got to know the other managers. And that was the first few hours of my new life.

The day went on and I had to read. A lot of reading, we are talking 10 hours that day. All week I was scheduled to read and I manage 50 hour weeks! I am not a reader and really do not like doing it. But I read and read, I learned a lot about the company and its policies and procedures and brand standards. The week consisted of a lot of reading but Saturday and Sunday things turned around. I got to mingle with the customers and kiss babies. I was so ready to do both. I was having fun and meeting new people. Meeting my employees, and learning how to manage them let alone an entire restaurant. I was happy but I still really missed my family and the 12 hour days which were really longer seemed to drag on forever.

6 o'clock PM Sunday. I started my countdown. I don't think I got anything done that last hour. I sat and watched every minute of my life and my children's life that I was not there for tick away. I was counting down till 7 PM till I could hit the road and the 3 hour journey that laid ahead. However at the end would be hugs and kisses and my little guys wrapped around me.

Shortly after I hit the road with a Thermos of coffee that would rival anyone from my home in Seattle. I flew up 95 passing everyone energized and full of life, I was going to see my babies in a few hours! I drove by my folks house and called. Sorry mom and dad I love you but I need to see my kids. They understood and were encouraging. As not to my knowing but they had been up to my house earlier that day and had played with the boys.

Finally I was home!!!! Yea, back in PA back to 14 fIR St. I was so happy! I pushed through the door, the light was on but no one came running. I walked to the room they were in and they were so happy to see me but followed quickly by mom you got me a surprise? I gave them their surprises and they played with them?! Not the momma loving I expected.

However, the house was immaculate. I was so surprised. Even the dishes were done. There were a bunch of problems but lets just focus on the positive. And they had nothing to do with the house being unclean but my husbands... I don't know what to call it. Just 1 example the fish tank now had completely blue water? How did that happen? The shower broke. And he is a plumber. Sorry I said lets focus on the positive. I was SO happy to find the house in this condition. I did not expect it. Ahh.... I love him. I missed him and I know he missed me. My oldest said mommy daddy missed you a lot.

I missed them so much and am so happy to be home that I will now get off the computer and go play some more with my beautiful children.

Karen Come Look at This!

As I hear my son yelling. What is it? A new spider man toy.

1. Call me MOMMY!!!!!! I worked so hard to have that title call me mommy.

2. I hate TV commercials. My sons says I want that to every advertisement and propaganda that is in front of him. Even on PBS. Yes this morning as they were doing one of there many countless fundraisers they held up a plush Clifford and a plush Curious George that you could get with a small $60 donation. I saw that monkey on clearance at Toy R Us for under $10 and still did not get it. But yet my son says mom I want the "plush" Curious George.

3. Yeah they are watching a little to much TV as I am desperately trying to get this house spic and span. So HOPEFULLY I can come home to it in the same order. hahahaha

Whirlwind weekend

So as I am about to embark on my new path of life. Getting things together, cleaning the house, making sure my family has enough food and clean clothes, yes that right I said clean clothes. I got a new washer and dryer in the spring which my 2 and 4 year old know how to use, unsupervised, and yet my husband looked at them the day and said how do these work! Ahhh you ***** not a bad word but I mind is fluttered and I can't think of what to call him. Probably lazy is the best choice. Like I said our two babies know how to do this and you 40 year old can't figure it out? I showed him and I told him if he has any questions ask the KIDS.

Life does not go as planned. As some of you knew Evan has not been feeling well. For the last few nights he crawled into bed with his dad and I not out of wanting to sleep in the big bed but out of discomfort. Friday after Jay left for work Evans health turned dramatically down hill. He was coughing so bad he struggled to breathe. His little body was hot all over he would just cry and fall over. His voice went from strong to so weak we had to ask him to repeat himself. Not our spirited Evan. As his dad left in the morning we both knew something had to be done. I got on the phone and started calling the doctors too early. I had to wait to 9. I finally got a hold of them and they said take him to the ER. Since the doctors’ office is right next to the ER I asked could I please bring him in their first. They agreed and looked at him the sent him right over to Washington County Hospital. Where there they did a number of X rays to determine what he had was croup.

Saturday he seemed better but very clingy. Sunday he was having a lot of trouble again. But we went down to his grandparents, for grandparents day anyways. It was too much and he had a bad Sunday. Today Monday, he is so fussy!!!! It is hard to take care of a sick kid when all they do is cry and whine and want to be held and you have everything else you have to do as well plus now I am also feeling sick. The house is thrashed, the laundry is in piles, the groceries are not got, the menu not made, and the kids still with out shoes for the fall. Ahh....I am supposed to be spending these last days with my kids spoiling them, and having fun. I am so not ready to go. Now that my baby is finally asleep I am taking the moment for me and checking email and blogging. Oh well in a crazy unplanned world you have to keep your sanity.

My new hair color!
All summer long I had the blondest hair. I went to the hair dresser yesterday expecting to walk out with dark blond but WOW I walked out of there as a very sultry dark brunette. My husband loves it, I am slowly getting used to it. I have never had hair this dark before.

God gave me the key, and the door did open

What a change we are having here. I got a job! As a restaurant manager for Denny's. I went through a slew of interviews, never so many for the same job in all my life. I was nervous but in the end it all worked out. What a change this will be. DH is now going to be a stay at home Dad, something he has wanted for a while. At least he thinks he wants this. I am going to be going out in the world and this is the great part almost doubling his income That makes us very happy. We are going to be able to keep on working on the house. I love my house. However, a part that makes us very sad is i will be moving down to Fredericksburg, VA for 3 months. I will get to come home occanisally so the family won't be completely with out me but oh boy I have never been away from them. Jay and I have left the boys with their grandparents for a few days and would go on vacation but I have never left him.

What a shock for Jay this will be. Sometimes I wish I could be the fly on the wall just to laugh. Oh am am worried about leaving him home with the kids and the house. I am afraid that I will come home to children that have lived off of cereal for months and the biggest mess imaginable. But I have faith in him and no in the end I get to come home and with the extra$$$ I can just call help in to clean up his mess.

Inner Harbor

Sunday we headed down to the inner harbor, Baltimore to have a nice day. The weather was wonderful. The inner harbor was full of people, artist and performers.

We even sat and watch a trapeze school that they have there. It looked like so much fun. I know where I want to go for my birthday.

We all rode a carousel. The children loved it. Jay and I had a good time too. Neither of us had been on one in some time.

It is a great place we like to go and hope to return to soon.

Stop wiggling so I can color on you!
