2 and a half
My little baby thinks he is so big. He follows his big brother around and wants to be just like him. He talks so well and it feels like he has been here forever. When he is out playing with his big brothers or running off to Sunday school classes you forget that he is still a little guy. When he is playing with his baby sister he looks so big. But he is only 2 and a half. A baby himself. Sometimes you are reminded of just how sweet and young he is. I had one of those great joyful moments this morning. It was early and just he and I were awake. I looked over to find my sweet baby curled up on the couch sucking his thumb, holding his blanket and baba, and just laughing and having a great time watching curious George. He is still a baby, a big baby but he is only 2 and a half.

An Afternoon Bike Ride
"We are a gear bike family." Evan said proudly. He got a new bike for his birthday. It was much needed and the fact his birthday is near the beginning of spring makes the perfect time to give him one.

It is such a cool bike. It is 20 inches the same as his big brothers and yes a gear bike. He took to it so quickly. He knew how to ride a 2 wheeler well but this is much bigger than the one we are replacing. He got on with a little wobbling 2 quick falls but with in a quarter mile he had it. Now he is off and faster than any of us.

It was a warm day and they kept asking to go out for a ride. After a busy and chaotic morning plus throwing in the time change we could all use the time out.
Smiley is so cute. As we were getting things ready he came running with the blue bucket he rides in and said "I got my bike!" Awww I love looking back and seeing him there. And he loves to go bike riding. This was also Faith's first time out. She is big enough to hold herself up so we strapped her in.

Why is she wearing a snow hat and no shoes? Yes it was warm. I can never keep socks on her. She loves being barefooted but her tootsies they always feel so cold. I am glad the temperature is now warm enough we don't need socks and shoes any more and can be warm. The snow hat well it is because I do not have an infant bike helmet. So I figured anything is better than nothing but she soon ripped it off too.

She was not not sure what to think of the ride. She would look at her brother then look back at her dad. I wonder what was she thinking. I wonder if she was comfortable. After all she still is so small 11 months and that bucket is hard plastic low to the ground.
Jay was laughing at me call me my own Suburban. In essence I guess I am. After all I have 3 babies I am carrying around.

Jay raced around after the big boys mostly. The boys kept racing to see who was in front. Jay would often chase after them.

But it always seemed to be Gregory or Evan. They took so many different paths it is hard to say who was winning. We were all just enjoying the day and each other.

This week, Wednesday, starts the boys spring break. I am sure we will be out on the bikes a bunch more. What perfect weather for it and what a fun way to enjoy my littles.

3 new bottles
Yes not 1...
not 2....
but 3!!!

Three brand new bottles I had just bought today. Three brand new bottles I had put up high just not high enough. Three bottles my troublesome twosome dumped out all over the floor and rug.

Luckily they had cuteness on there side and mama had magic eraser under the sink. I love that sponge works on everything. Well that and a bunch of baby wipes took care of this.

ugh... why... I wanted these!

She was so interested in it to begin with. If she would have waited I was going to paint her little toes and fingers while she slept. But she or Smiley painted herself. There is so much in her hair. Top, front and back, in all 3 colors. I wonder how many baths till it is out.
Well on the bright side... at least I got my toes done because it is flip flop weather!

Evan's birthday and more
Another busy week wrapping up. I am exhausted. If we go back to the beginning it was Evan's birthday and fishing party. yeah!! But it did not turn out exactly like I thought it would. We actually left earlier than I thought we would which is unusual and awesome only to have to turn around and leave later than I thought we would. Faithy was sick. She was not the fever, ill looking sick, but the projectile vomiting soaking anything in her 5 foot path type of sick. She threw up so much in the car we had to turn around clean her, change her, change all her coats car seats and blankets, clean the car and put in new air freshers. Yuck. But we eventually made it on the road again. Only to have her throw up once or twice more in the car.
We get to West Virginia and it was snowing. Not sticking to the ground but cold windy flurrying in the air. Colder than most of us wanted to spend the day out in. So we had to skip fishing and the kids just played. We still opened presents and cake of course, sister sick or not it was still my little mans 7th birthday.

He loved his cake. He thought the fisherman in the boat was him. That we had gave them his picture and they made a little fisherman model after him. Why not let him think that?

He was so eager to open and play with his presents that is the only way we got out of fishing without a big fit. He got beyblades from his grandparents and they all wanted to play them.

Notice that sick little girl trying to stand in the background? She is getting big. That is her 4th outfit of the day. She acted fine when she was not throwing up. She has been making this face at us a lot latley, often with a growl or laugh.

She thought the beyblades were fun.

She would continually catch them. They were to tempting to let spin.

And as soon as she had them in to the mouth they went. Which I am sure is how she got sick in the first place. Sticking something into her mouth that was gross. Or maybe it was when she was trying to eat the movie theater seat in front of us the night before. Yuck. I don't want to even think about it.

I guess it does not matter when you have a pepa there to hold you and make it better. She never through up on him. Or he would not be holding her.

We still had a good time. Most importantly Evan enjoyed his birthday.
The rest of the week went crazy too. Lots of deadlines some hit some missed, some just late. Sports beginning and ending. We frantically started baseball. Through a missed email I found out the boys had their baseball tryout in just hours! That changed an all ready fully planned night but for the better. It ended with a trip to get ice cream. Basketball ended. But not with out a ball threw one one the churches stained glass windows this morning. Luckily not by my kids.
I dropped my oldest off for his first sleep over at a friends and boy do I miss him.

Gregory. I just like the picture.
Houses are just not the same with out all your kids home. It feels weird.
We ran out of propane. I could not get the fireplace to start and was cold. Only to find out later that day that the our 100 gallon tank was completely empty. Luckily they were able to come out that day and fill it back up but not in under three hours time spent at our house. They had to pump, prime and recheck all the lines. All with a penalty/service fee and a whopping price tag of over $6 a gallon! A little yelling deal working later we got it down to a bit over $4 a gallon still ouch a big bite for an unexpected cost.
The good news sunny and upper 60's - 70's for the next 10 day maybe more.

Dad's Birthday
This year is Jay's 45th birthday. We are not doing anything big for it. Jay is just not a party or birthday sort of guy. He likes to be called, texted, remembered but seems to be enjoy his birthday. It is a pretty busy day for all of us anyways, school, work, bookmobile, swimming, life. But we don't want him to be forgotten. The kids will probably sing him happy birthday a few times with the cha-cha-cha's. I will remind him how old he is more than once. And we will most likely do a nice dinner next week. But for tomorrow the kids and I made him a SWEET surprise.

It was fun. The enjoyed it so much and are looking forward to giving it to him. It is more special for them that they made it too. And I can be certain he will be even happier to help him eat it.

Celebration of Life
One more item off the birthday checklist done. Today was Evan's Celebration of life at his school. That is what they do at Montessori schools apposed to the traditional school birthday party. They have the birthday child hold the earth and circle around a sun or in our case a classmate sitting as the sun. The birthday child travels around the sun one time and stops and then talks about that year or shows the class pictures or mementos from that year. The class sings a different type of birthday song or says the months as they walk around. This is repeated for each year of their life.

Evan was just so happy. He had been looking forward to this all week. Actually they look forward to it all year. And it is quite an honor if you are chose to be the sun. Sometimes they ponder over it all week. He decided on Minal.
I decided on doughnuts for the treat. It is supposed to be healthy but... My kids love frosted doughnuts. Most kids love doughnuts. And they are not as messy as cupcakes. So I brought in one huge heavy box of frosted doughnuts in all different colors covered in sprinkles. We passed on out to all of his 18 classmates.

Another reason I love Montessori are the ratios. 18 kids make up one full class. They range from grades 1-3. There is always 2 teachers for these kids and often helpers. I brought with me two extra helpers by request today. Evan wanted his brother and sister there. They were so happy to come. They were more than happy they got doughnuts. Faith kept crawling around to other kids after she finished hers. Little beggar.

Evan had a great time. Everyone loved the treat. Faith had so much fun she could not even make it home awake.

One more birthday celebration done. Now on to a busy weekend full of fishing and his real birthday party.
