An Afternoon Bike Ride

"We are a gear bike family."  Evan said proudly.  He got a new bike for his birthday.  It was much needed and the fact his birthday is near the beginning of spring makes the perfect time to give him one.

It is such a cool bike.  It is 20 inches the same as his big brothers and yes a gear bike.  He took to it so quickly.  He knew how to ride a 2 wheeler well but this is much bigger than the one we are replacing.  He got on with a little wobbling 2 quick falls but with in a quarter mile he had it.  Now he is off and faster than any of us.

It was a warm day and they kept asking to go out for a ride.  After a busy and chaotic morning plus throwing in the time change we could all use the time out.

Smiley is so cute.  As we were getting things ready he came running with the blue bucket he rides in and said "I got my bike!"  Awww  I love looking back and seeing him there.  And he loves to go bike riding.  This was also Faith's first time out.  She is big enough to hold herself up so we strapped her in.

Why is she wearing a snow hat and no shoes?  Yes it was warm.  I can never keep socks on her.  She loves being barefooted but her tootsies they always feel so cold.  I am glad the temperature is now warm enough we don't need socks and shoes any more and can be warm.  The snow hat well it is because I do not have an infant bike helmet.  So I figured anything is better than nothing but she soon ripped it off too.

She was not not sure what to think of the ride.  She would look at her brother then look back at her dad.  I wonder what was she thinking.  I wonder if she was comfortable.  After all she still is so small 11 months and that bucket is hard plastic low to the ground.

Jay was laughing at me call me my own Suburban.  In essence I guess I am.  After all I have 3 babies I am carrying around.

Jay raced around after the big boys mostly.  The boys kept racing to see who was in front.  Jay would often chase after them.

But it always seemed to be Gregory or Evan.  They took so many different paths it is hard to say who was winning.  We were all just enjoying the day and each other.

This week, Wednesday, starts the boys spring break.  I am sure we will be out on the bikes a bunch more.  What perfect weather for it and what a fun way to enjoy my littles.

What a great family outing! And, look at you not only bicycling while pregnant, but pulling some of you kiddos behind you too! I never had enough balance when I was pregnant to ride a bike. I'm kinda clumsy to start.

I'm impressed enough that you're riding a bike while pregnant...but pulling two kids behind you too?! You're officially my hero. :)
